I've found, strangely enough, that in my tier 1 that I'm grinding up, I get into a lot of tier two matches.

T1 matches are rare, but they're still by far the most common single-tier matches, given the way that normal MM works. +/-2 tiers is normal.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
So yeah it catapulted me right into the next tier and elited this tank as well.

Also the light is actually formidable when armed with a howitzer.

Hehehehe...Try the Cruiser II on for size, if you like a howitzer. Or the T82.

That's the best part about low-tier matches: so many people are idiots. If you just sit back, half the time they'll feed themselves to you. Also, Pz. I C. That is all. Oh, and the G variant, if only because of that insane 91mm pen T5 autocannon (on a tier 3!). It's the Luchs, except it gets much better MM. I still like the C more, though, because it can hit 80-85kph on flat ground and 90 going down a hill, and because of the bullet hose.

Of course, in the Valentine, it can't touch me. But it can run away.

What I've seen as SPG is that people will be very quick to blame you for defeat; especially the suicide scout that throws himself into the middle of an enemy team and uncovers all of them for a grand total of 0.4 seconds, claiming to have been useful whereas the artillery, who had been dealing a lot of damage elsewhere, clearly was not.

I'll have to wait and see how the rebalance goes.

Holy schist, this thread is mica me sick.
DF Players never truly leave.  They just abandon the fortress for a few years and then reclaim.

Ugh, that annoys me too. Good lord, it takes my SPG 4 seconds to turn towards the enemy, then there's aiming time, compensating for movement. By the time they vanish everyones moved.

Ok so my current tanks and opinions on them:

1 - Frencj B1 (low tier heavy)

Total trash. Large weak spot right in the front and another one on the right side.
The gun is trash (even the top one).
The matchmaker can put it into a game with tanks that can (and probably will) oneshot it or at least reliably pen it.

2 - Marder 2

No opinion on it yet.

3 - Bison

Slow load time.
Slow aim time.
Lethal damage to any tank at its tier (If it manages to hit)

4 - SU - 18

Antibison.
Fast reload.
Fast aiming.
Meh damage.

5 - KV1

I want to marry this tank.

Mm, the Marder is one of the best glass cannons in the game once you have the top gun.

I have to say I loved the Marder, as well. It's definitely not something you want to have get shot, but it can lay down some hurt for its tier.

It's strange. The SU-85B has a better gun than the T40 in every way save fire rate, and then only barely, but I do far better with the T40.

There's more to a tank than the gun. For one, the T40 has far better armor (51/38/38 as opposed to 25/15/15) and nearly twice the horsepower with their respective top engines (which, given the weight of each with their set of top modules, equates to a higher specific power for the T40; acceleration is by and large more important than top speed for a TD). The T40's top gun also has a lower aiming time. To be fair, though, I can't speak as to how the T40 handles, as I took the M8A1 route to the Hellcat, and I haven't played SU-85B for months.

In addition, a trip to the wiki shows that the T40 has better gun and elevation arcs. Also, the positioning of its gun mount counteracts its main disadvantage (the large hull profile) by making it easy to shoot from hull-down positions. To boot, the 105mm howitzer gives it an entirely different option for playstyle.

Basically the T40 is a very well-rounded TD that can do decently at most ranges and in most situations, as long as you don't sit in the open. The SU-85B, speaking from past experience, is very much a dedicated scout/sniper; if you're spotted and don't back off, you're going to get fucked up. In other words, things rarely come down to a single element of a tank, rather than the beast as a whole, though to be fair if there is a single element that decides how a tank is best played, it probably will be the gun (see: the KV-2).
