Was driving through the wilderness on some rural roads, getting late and was gunna turn around and go home but my tourist trap map showed a road nearby and I wanted to see what it ended at.
I go offroad, my heavily armored battletrike handling shrubs with ease at 60 mph and then boom! I hit a landmine. I am completely unharmed, and the battletrike also took that landmine with hardly any damage... except it removed the front wheel with the precision of a brain surgeon. Literally nothing else damaged. And I neglected to pack a spare.
So Now I'm stuck with a trunk full of loot, probably 100 overmap tiles from home, with no car and the sun will be down in an hour. I grab a bit of food and water from the trunk and start heading back home, once I get home I'll rest up and hike back with another armored wheel. I'm in a full set of non rigid powered armor with lv 9 in melee, lv 8 in rifles, a martial arts enhanced cudgel and a pnumatic assult rifle full of ball bearings. I forsee no danger from wildlife.
Then 1/4th of the way home I step on another bloody land mine in a forest that I somehow didn't notice with the powered armor's built in night vision, which literally blows the power armor right off of me and causes horrible wounds. I then forget the steps I took to enter the tile and step on another mine trying to trace my way back out.
RIP Sparrow Griffon. lived most of a year, melee'd a jabberwok to death, killed 2 tank drones, and murderer of fungal spires with pebbles fired from a homemade paintball gun. Death by flat tire.
Cataclysm DDA
EDIT: I find it amusing imagining the trike hitting the land mine, coming to a dead stop and the front tire flying straight up into the air like a rocket and never being seen again.
