So many non-lethal games broken because of this certain sequence involving a helicopter pilot. At first it was because of story reasons, but now that I'm on the highest difficulty I kill out of frustration. Fuck these guys, their assault rifles, their box robots, and their grenades.
I think I know the bit you mean.
Spoiler: REAL GAME SPOILERS (click to show/hide)

I always take stealth, then armor and accuracy upgrades, and then hacking after that. I don't especially like the hacking minigame, and I find sneaking by enemies the old-fashioned way much more satisfying. There's also a certain satisfaction in store for me when I finally beat that segment using only non-lethal weapons.

I kind of made a mistake in ditching the tranq dart rifle I took at the start of the game. I don't really know why I did, I think it was to make room for some gun that I never ended up using. That messed up my ability to stealth for a while, since I could only do either takedowns or conflictless stealth.

I find the tranq rifle too slow to use in combat situations. By the time I've tapped everybody, they've already slunk around behind me and filled me full of holes. What I like to do is to throw a concussion grenade, jump out from behind cover, punch a guy or two out and then duck behind another piece of cover. Difficult to pull off, but works well for groups of two to four.

I still don't know why they consider those takedowns as non lethal.  At MOST they are very, very slightly less than lethal.  Your fist is a freaking metal object being smashed into their face at high speeds, instantly knocking (killing) them out.

Maybe it has some sort of air-cushion effect it uses...? I don't know, I'm not really good at plausible science fiction handwaves.

Nah, the other enemies can revive someone after you takedown them. So they're not dead.

HOW?!

That's why you drag them to a safe, hidden place, and why you have a silenced weapon.  If you're going for effeciency, and not just non-lethal.

Just mind that you don't drag them into the wrong place. Unconscious enemies jammed into air vents have a nasty habit of dying in the process, screwing up your attempt for the Pacifist achievement.  >:(

Also, realistically it's very difficult to knock someone unconscious in a single blow without some risk of killing them. If the tranq rifle was really a guaranteed non-lethal knockout, there'd be no point in anesthesiologists - we'd just shoot people once with a tranq dart before surgery. Never mind punching people in the head with mechanically-enhanced limbs...

You keep them alive?  I just put them down with my silenced weapon.  From what I remember, non-lethal takedowns take less time, so it's better to do that then do a back of the head execution in a vent somewhere.

You're horrible and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Edit: For on-topicness... I connected to a local minecraft server using my outside-world IP address.  Apparently that's a known issue which prevents anything from loading, so I fell into the void??

"Stumpy" , my short, fat, shirtless inmate was created solely to see how many he could kill. He killed almost all of his blockmates, knocking one arm off of the warden with a broom and extorting 'don't-kill-me' money and then killing them.  He decided to head over to the Yard to work out, gain some strength to kill more. A warden,  however, was friends with one of his victims, magically knew that "Stumpy" had killed him, and beat him to death with a nightstick.

I see a guard standing next to a window.  He facing it, so I'll have to be fast.  I plot out my jump, and I'll just reach it.  I jump, intending to break through and punch him in the face.  Unfortunatly, I could not break through the window.

I walked into the dungeon. Took a few steps and found a kobold who wanted to fight. I step up and swing at him. He dodges my hit and counters.
I laugh as his little dagger fails to pierce my armor. Then I fall over, dead.

In the most honorable way possible.

I was in a bunker, just shooting Americans as they tried to come forward and capture our point. Eventually, they did, but I noticed only in time to realize I was right in front of their new spawn point.

Cue shooting Americans in the back as they rush past my little bunker, picking up the infinitely better Garand and Thompson in exchange for my Naginata. Eventually, the word must get out that I'm there, and people start charging my bunker with Thompsons and grenades. I hide in a little alcove area, sheltered from the worst of it as I pick them off as they come in.

Eventually, I realized they were probably going to get a lucky throw soon, or get some sense and stop charging in one at a time at a speed that gives me opportunity to reload, so I decided to go out with a bang, and take as many of those 'murrican dogs with me as I could.

I grabbed a grenade, pulled the pin, counted to three and just ran out into the small group of Americans lined up outside my bunker trying to shoot at me, shouting "BANZAAAAI" over VOIP.

Unfortunately, they shot me before the grenade went off, but I still had a good last stand.
