Got a new computer and it has this graphics card, how old is it? What level of games can it run? Which graphic cards of other companies is it better then?

You're looking at a midrange card from three generations ago. It'll probably be a decent computer, but don't expect it to pump out polys like there's no tomorrow.

If this card is mid-range then my graphics card is stone-age.

I have something like this as my onboard.

It'll run HL2 and similar just fine, but anything really modern and it chokes.

How about this one?: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

I know my computer is like 3 years old, so its definetly not the latest.

That's even older, and IIRC was the low-middle end even then, which was 5 generations ago.

Mine actually still works pretty well. As long as the graphics aren't too intensive. I can't play Civilization 5 on DirextX 10 or 11 without it being laggy and even on DirectX9 its laggy unless I put some settings lower. I even had to put the leader animations on minimum (which are still pictures) as they were really laggy. There was an update that I downloaded earlier that has improvements related to Civilization 5, so it should help.

At least I CAN play it with good graphics though.

I used to play Lego Star Wars: The complete trilogy, but that game was hurting the graphics card as it got to a point where it would just about always go grainy when I played it, so I stopped entirely. Other than that, I haven't had the graphics card do a meltdown on me.

TF2 is pretty cool with in terms of performance.  I can even play TF2 on a computer without a graphics card.

What about a NVIDIA GeForce 7100/NVIDIA nforce630i? Better or worse?

This thread makes me sad. I have a GeForce 6400GT, which in terms of the discussion means I basically have the Flintstones equivalent of a graphics card, with a pterodactyl inside my screen chiseling the picture out of stone.

Also, it makes me sad that HL2 isn't considered "modern", especially since it makes my computer beg for mercy when I run it.

No. I would consider it low-end.
