I need some help here, I'm spending all my free time finding a site instead of plundering the earth
I don't think I'm asking for much here:
3x3
Flux
Steel
Trees are a plus but not necessary
Gobos (and hopefully elves)
no aquifer (modded them out but seems to be causing problems)
All surroundings must be terrifying (either no multiple surroundings, or multiple terrifying biomes)
Not on a glacier (last few games were on glaciers, looking for something new)
There is a glitch with multiple surroundings that makes them screw up so all surroundings have to be terrifying. I've spent the last two days generating new worlds and scouring them for sites. Most terrifying surroundings are oceans and mountains which can't be embarked on. After removing aquifers I tested embarks on places where there would have been aquifers and everything seemed to be working fine. However, the four or five out of around 30 maps that have had a decent embark location have either crashed to desktop on embark, or had severely distorted terrain. I don't really know how to use the advanced parameters for world generation so I've just been using the sliders. I leave everything on default except for beasts and savagery which I max. I then manually search and use the search function for terrifying sites at medium altitude. I have been denied at every turn
I gave up on DF for the first time last night in frustration after repeatedly finding a site, preparing carefully, then crashing to desktop or finding the site riddled with glitches... This morning I woke up and realized I wasn't going to get off the hook that easily and still needed to play DF lol.
So if anyone has some suggestions for world gen parameters or a way to embark on only mountains I'm all ears. Mainly though if someone has a region containing a site with all of the things above and could upload it to rapid share I would be eternally grateful. I'm using the most recent version of DF without any mods or graphics packs. I'm off to work now, I'll check back when I get home, any help would be appreciated.
