Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 soon, after telling people that Windows 10 would be the last version of Windows in 2015. Windows 10 will likely be end-of-life by 2025.

I feel like ditching Windows even more. At least if I used Linux, I'd have a consistent-ish timeline for upgrades for the "just-works" distros (mostly those based on Ubuntu). The fact that they can't keep promises is shit. I don't know if I'll have to do a fresh install and buy a fresh license key, and without that knowledge, I think I'll just give up on Windows. Fuck it. Linux Mint w/ Cinnamon is currently my target, but I'll take anything that's more familiar.

I'm going to state the obvious: money has different worth in different places. What might seem a ludicrous wage in one place might actually translate into a decent living somewhere else.

Fun fact: minimum wage for retail in the US is more than I earn, for high-skill development/pedagogical work. The cost of living is much lower here so it works out, for the most part*, but money really is strange.

* As far as I know unprocessed stuff like food tends to be much cheaper here since it lives entirely in a Rands economy, but high end goods and technology and so on cost a lot more because they're imported from places that have dollar/euro/etc. economies.

So I was talking to a very nice girl with her own set of issues.  The dealbreaker for me wasnt the child.  Wasnt the baby daddy in jail for trying to play as Edgelord from Hatred with the cops.  And it wasnt the extra weight she had now, she used to be a kickboxer/drugcrimethingperson.  It wasnt the crappy gang tats or whatever.  It was her refusal to accept that I eat a healthy balanced diet that restricted carbs, fats, and sugar.

She had a whole fight with me about how I didnt eat enough.  It was really overblown

As the friend with the reputation of being the guy that makes sure nobody goes overboard at a party, it's really fucken' irritating when said friends at the wedding reception actively reject my warning and then become subsequently sloshed and vomitous.

Like, goddamn, we ain't 21 any more. Half my group made offerings at the porcelain throne over the course of the reception and the rest came back to the hotel room positively bellowing at some time close to midnight, only to be too drunk to remember not to be bellowing eight seconds later until I shooed them off to another room to continue partying, and boy howdy did I get a lashing at for maybe being the person that told the bartender to cut one of them off, despite the fact that I'd been away from the reception for well over an hour when it happened. I'm the one that's supposed to be responsible, so it must've been me, right?

Just, shit, man. Nobody was a disaster the morning after (thanks vomit), the newlyweds ran the day smoothly (great ceremony), and nothing was right properly damaged (except for the growing crack or scratch in my tablet), so it wasn't all bad, and it was fun at parts when I wasn't worrying about someone or cleaning up after someone else.

They DID say I'm under no obligation to, but they know I'll do it anyways and so I know I will too. When you're the guy arranging hotel rooms and carpools and such, these things sort of happen. Egh. !!FUN!! fact: same for me^, except that I ACTUALLY LIVE IN THE US.  The minimum wage hikes are INSANE in my state.

*note, I'm not sure what "high-skill development/pedagogical work" means, but since I'm not saying what I do for a living, but it involved more that undergraduate schooling, I'm gonna say its the same thing.  No work means no money.  I'm recovering now, but June-July of last year in the office mostly consisted of jotting down whatever rare messages were on the machine, explaining to people that nothing was happening, feeding the fish, then going home.

Augh, I don't know if it's just because I've been looking at other sites with different fonts or what, but suddenly all the text on Bay12 looks... wrong, somehow. As if the font was changed to something similar but slightly more angular.
