I've always heard the term applied equally to cellar spiders and those flying things. They're practically identical except that cellar spiders don't fly.

For bonus points, I don't call harvestmen that because I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

Is it a Harvestman (which isn't actually a spider, it is an arachnid though) or some large(ish) Australian spider? Doesn't matter much when the question is dinner but does if the question becomes "is it dangerous?".

Here in USA a Daddy Longlegs is a Harvestman Arachnid. They're not dangerous.

Also here, the flying things are Skeeter Eaters even though they don't eat mosquitoes IIRC. Again not dangerous here.

"Daddy longlegs" is a term used for crane flies (also known as "mosquito-eaters", due to their resembling very large mosquitoes), cellar spiders (which are actual spiders and spin webs), and also certain species of harvestmen (which are not, and do not), most notably Phalangium opilio, the "Common Harvestman".

It's also apparently the term for a species of flower. Just to make things extra clear.
