I much prefer light novels. They're better for travelling, for one thing - heavy novels tend to quickly eat up your luggage allowance.

Heh, last time I used Bing was when it was the search engine my new (at the time) laptop defaulted to and when I tried to download Google Chrome through it it lead me to a virus laden site, when I did it again but using Google as my search engine I got to a clean site with no hassle.

Bing is like the dirty used needle of search engines as far as I'm concerned.

I use Yandex when I need to search for something in Russia (it's superb at that), and Google at everything else.

Like... okay, but that's just kinda' wrong. Those things do make it safer, but not safe. Shit happens, and about the only way you can be sure an otherwise functional gun is not going to fire is if it isn't loaded. Full stop. There's no guarantee for anyone that they're going to be able to keep a firearm pointed in a safe direction in case of an accident.

We accept the risks for certain roles, and ideally provide the resources they need to mitigate them as much as possible, but that doesn't mean they aren't there (or a civilian can actually meet similar standards of mitigation, for that matter. Big ol' difference between being fed for keeping up to standard and having to feed yourself while keeping up to standard, et al).

E: ... any case, yeah, like basically every single bit of firearm training I've encountered over the course of my life have been pretty clear on transporting loaded firearms, with the directive about as clear and consistent as pointing it at something you don't want to die. Don't. Don't do it. The same alcoholic with a history with organized crime that taught me how to make pipe bombs when I was a pre-teen even repeated and was consistent on that one.

This is all true, I agree with you. I did say it was "perfectly safe" so I apologize and I take that one back, but the point I was intending to make is that accidental discharges are always preventable accidents, not that you can be immune to them.

I was taught that an unloaded firearm is always loaded.  British law backs me up on this - pointing a firearm at someone for any reason, under any circumstances, regardless of whether you consider it loaded or whether the safety is on (or whether it's even a real weapon), is assault (on the basis of recklessness rather than intent in the case of an accident) with a weapon.

The only problem I have with that rule is that actors point guns at each other all the time.  I'm pretty sure they even fire blanks towards each other, which would mean the guns are real, right?
