Replacing it is ... hmmm I honestly conflicted.  I was never under the impression Columbus was a great man, but crap like this makes my knee jerk.

Columbus was..... pretty all-around completely awful.

However, the holiday to everyone I've ever met is a celebration of the discovery of America by the people who would one day found the USA. I think renaming it to indigenous people's day or whatnot is quite appropriate in light of Columbus' actual successful holocaust, but I hope they have something to commemorate the previous event.

Im aware of what columbus did and didnt do.  Im not really sure making 'his day' into something else does anything to ease tensions or mend wounds or anything of the sort.

Remove the day if it bothers you.

Ive begun looking for a new job in earnest.  This one will suffice until I can land a third job Im pining for (and competing for), but Im getting depressed before going in; I genuinely dont like it.


I could also stand to do some more learnificationing.  Ive been feeling dumb lately listening to a couple of discussion on forums.  This one is usually good for some discussions, but I can usually keep pace in my head.  I could not do this recently.
