For reals though part of the problem was sheer amount of misinformation. One of the first major social-media-based actual-fake-news catastrophes IIRC.

The bigger problem is that it was used as a ideological platform, or at least that they used an ideological platform to obfuscate the overall issues.

That was where the major source of misinformation ultimately came from.

How do you guys feel about wombats? I think they are great, on account of they are fuzzy and use their butt-cheeks to defend themselves, sometimes violently.

I have "Secret Life of the Wombat" on my netflix watchlist.   

Wombats were very confusing for me growing up, because I mixed them up in my head with the Mongbats monsters in Ultima 4's underworld.  When I found out wombats were real and actually kind of cute it was pretty weird.
