I guess that since Caroline was Chell's mother, there is a degree of love involved (see "Cara Mia"), but that's love-of-a-daughter. That has nothing to do with a drunken libidinous man trying to convince a woman to be with him.

It's not explicitly stated, but there are several hints that point to Chell being, if not a child of Cave and Caroline, at least some scientist's child. The most prominent is the overgrown potato in Portal 2, which is on a science-fair-project-paper with Chell's name on it.

My headcanon is that Cave and Caroline had a child, but didn't want to raise her. After all, they have science to do! So they get Doug to adopt Chell. This ties up many loose ends. For instance, in the Rattmann comic, Doug says that "he had a hunch" about Chell being able to defeat GLaDOS.

Of course, this assumes that GLaDOS is in fact Caroline. I can't remember if that was stated outright, but "her name is Caroline" (from the Oracle Turret), as well as Cara Mia (which means "my child" in Italian), make me very certain that my headcanon is true and that GLaDOS aka Caroline is the mother of Chell.

I am so happy that I can talk to people about Portal! Nobody else understands me... *dramatic sigh*

I was running today after a long break due to illness, so of course my legs and torso feel a bit battered.

Weirdly, I also managed to pull or strain something under my jaw, like directly below the bottom of my mouth. Pretty odd, as I never knew there was anything like that there, but it was the usual sports injury lack of mobility, slight pain or ache increasing when moved, and unpleasant tension. Had it a dozen times in my calves or thighs or even my neck when I looked round too abruptly or clenched my jaw too long, but absolutely never under my chin.
