It is a touch more liberal than I usually care to admit.

But its certainly something I believe.  Maybe Id reword it to sound less about feelings and more about dominance were I talking to people who knew me better?



I guess it is postmodern.  We are children of the postmodern world after all.


But its more than that.  Conflict allows you to become better at it.  verbal conflict allows you to express yourself more efficiently, in ways that physical conflict cannot.

You know, I've just realized that I didn't add my age to my forum profiles, both here and on SB.

1) I have no idea why I did that. Excessive Marxist paranoia, maybe?
2) This has literally never came up before, until just now, when someone has called me "young one" in PM, while apparently being only 2 years older than me.

...is there such a thing as "age identity"? Do I sound/act like I'm that significantly younger than I actually am? Why does it bother me so much?!

Communication styles definitely have a general lean towards hinting at age, yes, and it's fairly easy to come off as older/younger than you actually are. Happens in meatspace pretty easily, too, though that's got the physical bits added to it obviously enough.

No clue why it bothers you, though. Maybe you've internalized that whole younger=dumber thing or somethin'.

I do my best to look and act 23.

I do a decent job of it, judging by the occasional young females and males looking my way.  And nobody seems to believe me when I tell them my age.

I thought I was through being mistaken for way younger than I am after I exploded myself a bit.

Turns out that's not the case, a newer friend of my daughters who came to visit just now asked if I've been sick and avoiding class.

Given that my daughter also did blow up an anthill in my front yard so bad the crater is still there and it tore siding and windows up, yes. Speaking of I should really fill that up some day since if it got super rainy I can imagine we'd get mosquito problems from it...

Eeeeh. I guess I just can't quite stand patronizing attitudes directed towards me. Especially if those attitudes are because people think that I should be something other than I am. _{No, I'm not a 24/7 100% complete genius person, stop calling me "being intentionally obtuse/dumb" for failing to answer a single question out of like 10-15 really tricky questions!}
