The Linux thread was the "Death to Microsoft" one?
Yeah, that was a bit comical. I haven't used a Microsoft product on my own PC for years, and even I felt that it was kinda over the top. Thought it was a parody at first.

Yeah, plus it wasn't out of the blue.  I happened to catch the thread right after Toady came in and removed the derail, and 74c came right back and was started the conversation up again.  And someone was like "no stop you'll be banned" and he was like "tantric sex though amirite".

To be fair he didn't seem to understand why the discussion was being stopped, but it wasn't for lack of being told.  This is definitely the recent ban I feel least bad about.

Oh jeez, 74c was behind the Linux thread? I barely got past the OP for that one without my eyes rolling straight out of my head.

Jeez yeah.  I love Linux and all, but it was pretty telling how even current dedicated users were trying to get him to chill a bit.

But I think that discussing banned people is not super cool unless it's in good spirits, so I'd rather not continue this conversation.

I don't see why there should be a problem with discussing banned people so long as the discussion mostly stays in the vein of "what went wrong and how can we prevent this from happening again?"

It's just the overuse of line breaks, I think.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are some bots on the internet who have genuinely managed to pose as humans.
But then there are also human bots out there, doing Chinese Room type stuff for spam businesses.

A Markov chain isn't good enough to pretend to be a real human bean, and that's what most use.
We're still at the level where things like articles will be generated, but then edited by a meat person.
Just like Windows users aren't ready for a real OS, the world isn't ready for true machine intelligence.
