So....as someone who doesn't reddit, and doesn't otaku, and is constantly naive about how fucked up entire Internet subcultures can be.....am I reading this correctly in that people are arguing that it's immoral to have a "relationship" (whatever that can possibly mean in this cntext) with more than one fictional character, or just real-life polyamory?

E: They are refuting fictional polyamory. It's immoral to have more than one fictional 'waifu'. It was apparently started by a member of the community coming out as having more than one.

I'm sure many would find this creepy but I actually think it's kinda sweet?  Unhealthy but sweet.
I don't agree that they should get bent out of shape about the polyamory though, it's not like every mod speaks with absolute authority for the whole community.

I just spent, I don't know, a ridiculous amount of time kicking an unconscious goblin around a room in DF adventure mode.
They were rather aerodynamic, but I had to remove most of their clothing because most of the flight-related injuries were being deflected by cloaks and tunics and trousers and such, which I thought was rather unsportsmanlike of 'em. Eventually they hit a wall with enough force to burst. I think I need a new goblin.

Just so I have this straight: the bugaboo is that some people are offended that someone in the waifu community simultaneously loves two non-existent things?

i'd say that the internet is essentially camelot (that is, a silly place), but then i'd probably have to fend off all the people who waifu rin instead of saber or something

TBH the people who genuinely take the waifu crap seriously rather than as a maymay are messed up. Not morally, but in terms of their perspective on relationships and reality. It's basically an adult having an invisible friend that they're having an imaginary relationship with.

Like, as a joke, sure? As shorthand for "I really like this character," certainly. But the whole unironic "muh pure sweet 2D waifu" thing weirds me out.

To be fair, to an outsider, that is exactly what it looks like.

I'm all for enriching one's life through fandom, but there is definitely a limit. When people's identity becomes totally defined by their fandom, I can't help but look askance.

I've realized that I currently have about 7 copies of a 1.6 GB folder and 4 copies of a 7.0 GB one, across three different computers (one of which is almost dead, though, so it probably doesn't count).

i think i'm kind of a little bit too paranoid with backuping those two

then again, this is the only way to be sure that you won't lose the precious-irreplaceable-but-mostly-still-garbage data
