The problem isn't their deeds, it's the religion itself, or specifically he contents of the bible especially the old testament. I'm sure if you twisted the meanings enough and ignored 90% or the contents you could construct a positive philosophy out of The Prince or Mein Kampf as well but the actual philosophy of th3 books themselves would still be horrendous.

There's a difference between: being a good Christian, and being good and Christian. And to be honest I can't see how a person could fully believe in Christianity (or Judaism), be okay as a functioning person, and not hate everyone around them. And I'm going to guess that most of the time it's the belief that is the short leg, since I don't think you could find many people who honestly believe that most-everyone around them deserves to be punished forever.

Islam maybe doesn't so much fall prey to that because Allah is more in the position of a spiteful judge whose approval has to be earned, instead of a condescending one who makes you admit that you're terrible and if only you'd let them love you so much you wouldn't have to punish yourself.
