I have a split shift at work, I work 4 hours, I'm off 4 hours, then I come back to work for another 4 hours. It wasn't as bad as it origonally sounded, since I work from home and was told that I would be able to get a shift change if it didn't work out.
The place I work isn't set up so that we can't always go on our breaks at the exact right time. the rule is that if we work 5 mins after the break is supposed to start we come back from the break 5 minutes late.
We had a mandatory meeting either today (beginning at the start of my 4 hour lunch) or friday (a day off). I opted to take the meeting today and just push the lunch back.
50 minutes into the meeting right near the end split shifts like mine were brought up. Turns out we don't count for that. We have to be back at the exact scheduled time. regardless of when we started our break. This was during a meeting that was cutting into about 25% of the attendees split lunch breaks including mine and was a little under an hour long into those breaks.
What kind of a dick supervisor gives a mandatory meeting during people's lunch breaks to tell them that, no sorry, yer not getting this time back.
The big kicker? I just asked to have my schedule changed back to a normal shift about 2 months ago as I was told I could do. For other reasons that are making this shift undesirable, I was finally gotten back to to say 'No, yer staying on your current shift'.
