Yea I think it's that ^  Even seems to happen in online games to an extent.  I played a Female charr primarily in GW2(the male charr voice makes me gag) and my fellow guildies would often refer to me as she or her in text chat even though they know I'm male.

I work in networking tech support.  The higher ups just suddenly banned us from changing the wifi broadcast channels on routers because apparently some of my fellow techs have been changing the channels to ones that are illegal to use in the U.S.

That could be all well and good I suppose, can't be switching them to illegal channels.  But it would be better if my fellow techs were just educated on why that's bad, or better yet our tools that are only ever used in the U.S. and always have been, not allowing us to switch to wifi channels 12,13, and 14 would be even better.  Because there is a massive problem with us not being allowed to change that setting anymore.

Probably a good 30% of the calls we get everyday, are caused by interference from another wifi network, and changing the channel is the most reliable, and in many cases ONLY way to correct that. (at least according to what settings we are were allowed to change).

So my biggest question now is, WTF are we supposed to do to fix those problems now?  Send them a replacement router?  That's what we are supposed to do if troubleshooting fails, and the list of steps for poor wifi connection after we determine it's not the computer is 1)Reset router 2)change broadcast channel 3) change wifi security mode.  1 rarely works, and when it does is usually more like a band-aid, and 3 also sometimes works but also requires us to walk non tech people over the phone on how to go through all the wifi devices on the network with a fine tooth comb to reconfigure them with the new security.

And the worst part?  I work as the highest tier of support for these routers at the company.  How's it going to look with us if we tell the occasional tech savvy customer we get that we are not allowed to do something so basic as changing the wifi channels when we are the only techs allowed to do anything even remotely advanced on the things?   "I'm sorry sir, but while I'm able to set up port forwarding, reconfigure your firewall, and set up a DMZ on your network I'm not allowed to change yer broadcast channel off of the automatic setting" (which is known to be non-functional with half the routers the company distributes, along with other features like bridge mode and static ip assignment.  They just don't care.)

Sorry for the rant, but it's such a hot topic it has specifically been banned from being talked about in my supervisor's chat channels, and I need to let some out.

GT's biggest failing was just not being that good (I still think it is WAY better than people give it credit for).

Hotdamn. 750kg. How much explosives can that make? I hope they find him soon. Although if he is already been off the radar since last month, chances are slim.

note: calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) is thought to be responsible for 70% of the roadside IED that went off against American forces in Afghanistan. In most countries it is still readily available though as a commercial fertilizer.

GT wasn't that bad when it was just goku and his grandaughter travelling around in space and getting into trouble, IMO. It started to suck when they got back to earth and started fighting the evil dragons over and over.

Today's morning ablutions*: Herd three guineas. Herd one chicken, twice. Catch different chicken by hand. Catch rooster with net. Drag rooster inside net for probably twenty or thirty feet, maybe more.

Old people should maybe not have chicken pens that are not sufficiently enclosed. Thing needs a two-stage door incredibly badly. Will have to recommend again.

HP printers are the worst. Do you have he problem where it spontaneously locks up and needs to turned off and unplugged in order to reset it? I've had that on two different HP printers.

Huh. I've literally never had a problem with any of my HP printers, but the HP laptops I've had were unredeemable piles of shit.
