I've been trying to piece together a recipe for this. It doesn't seem prohibitively hard. Make some lightly sweetened tempura batter with sesame seeds (I'm going to sweeten it with maple syrup because duh), dip some leaves in it, then deep fry the battery leaves.

For a second I thought "battery" meant the electric charge holding ones, as was wondering why you would eat that, and why batteries have leaves.
