I think the point is that all the things we see/hear/etc. we don't actually see/hear/etc. we just receive knowledge above them so if you could instantly receive an information about the wavelength/color of object's emitted light that would essentially (after 1-2 years of mind adaptation) be perceived as a natural eyesight. It doesn't matter what things are, it matter how they interact with each other.

We already do it though. There's actually an entire subset of computer graphics dedicated to 'tone mapping,' the goal of which is to reproduce the way our eyes perceive light to simulate light conditions your monitor is unable to display. HDR (High Dynamic Range) tone mapping, for example, is meant to deal with the fact that our monitors can't be as bright as the sun or as dark as an unlit cave. And so we take the internal HDR of an image and compress it down into a low dynamic range which your monitor can display.

Fair enough. But it's going to be very hard to incorporate data from beyond the visible spectrum without it looking really weird. And even if you can get trice the visible spectrum, you're still not that far.

(also alway, that example may be slightly bad because it deals with brightness, not spectrum.)

I'm feeling mostly better. From barely being able to eat and feeling like I was hollow and full of helium yesterday, to feeling fine and actually capable of doing light yard work today. My body will never cease to confuse the hell out of me.

Reading a book today and one of the characters has my name. This makes me freak out for a second, because I have never met another person with the name, know only one (contemporary) famous person with it, and had never before seen it in a work of fiction before. And here I am, reading a book, and I just stumble upon it.

Wow, what are the odds. Unless you were named by your parents during a scrabble competition, the odds are actually rather high.

Ok we'll each pick 8 letters out of the box without looking.  Then we spend 5 minutes forming those letters into an order that looks like it might just be a name.  After that we flip a coin, if heads my name is first yours is middle, if tails Your name is first and mine is middle.

My family's nickname for me is "Triple Word score"
I prefer "Rus".

I've never met anyone with my name. Every couple years I'll meet someone who has, but the fact that their first response to my name is "Hey, I know someone else named that!" shows how rare it is.

My brother has an intergenerationally super-common, easily pronounced Anglo-Saxony name. I have a stupidly rare Irish (authentically non-Anglicized Irish) name that no one can pronounce from the spelling or spell from the pronunciation. That's some Aerith and Bob shit there.

Its always funny to me that Jesus is a common name among Spanish speakers, and pronounced "hey Zeus".  Or close enough that my brain ignores the difference.
