Today, I had to explain to a customer that video games aren't just children's toys, it's a multi billion dollar industry, much like movies. Then I got her hooked on the idea of adventure games, like The Last of Us.

Please tell me, for the love of Armok, you mentioned Dwarf Fortress.

Or maybe having not have done that would've been better, to avoid starting her on a ferociously difficult game.

Yeahno... if she hasn't even discovered videogames before, I don't think DF would be a good stepping stone for her.
Then again, maybe the lack of graphics etc. would make it seem like more of an "adult" pursuit/hobby? I do not know.

That thought isn't too uncommon, is it? I've always heard people say that video games are for children.

I've heard more than a few cashiers in stores try to explain the ratings to parents. Though only at stores that have policies on selling certain ratings to minors.

People also think the same thing about cartoons.

One time, I went to NYC on a school trip and stopped by a diner for lunch. I ordered a "chicken sandwich" and specifically said to hold the cheese.

I got cheese anyway.

I didn't know you could tell them they got your order wrong and get another one back then, so I didn't eat it as cheese disgusts me.

No idea why I couldn't sleep. This is annoying. I'd planned on going to the city and buying comics today.
