I do that sometimes.
Sometimes I also internally narrate everything I'm doing like I'm in a book or something.

I do it (the former) just about all the time, whenever I'm pondering something.
Half the time I don't realize I'm doing it, and it's a rather strange sensation when I think too much about the habit.

For me, i wind up composing lectures on whatever is running through my head at a time. I never remember them for long, but I've realized after coming home from work I'd just given myself an eight hour lecture on the social science behind the dihydrogen monoxide gag. (not necessarily scientifically valid)

My work is very very boring.
