This assumes you can't be there when it happens, in which case you could just take 'em for a walk. So I assume it's not that easy.

Are you friends with another tenant who is willing to swap out with you? Like, you leave your dogs with him on the day that the maintenance guy will do your door, and vice versa for the day his door gets done.

Major security breach the last couple of days. All because highly trained, educated people (some of whom even work in IT) fell for a phishing scam and entered their login credentials into a webform embedded in an email. And at least one triggered an Outlook script which silently added a rule forwarding all her mail to a POP address which was itself a dead-drop box.

God only knows what all was compromised. The login credentials bit can be repaired, but without knowing how long that rule has been hiding there...people could DIE if certain operational details got leaked to the wrong people.

It's come to this.

They come for a raid. "Phishing scam?"

I went to visit my folks for Christmas. They have a couple cats: A rather friendly, if a little skittish older grey cat, and a rather grouchy orange tabby. Said tabby was friendly as hell while I was up there. Hell, he even came up and sat on my chest when I was lying down on a couch. Which was nice and all, but the bastard is HEAVY. Still, the sudden personality change kinda confused the hell out of me.
