Those things are dangerous. They shut down Sweden's largest nuclear power plant recently. A few ton of yellyfish into the coolant is not good for optimal operation.

Upon starting my desktop this morning I was greeted with a "File Name Warning" popup that stated

"There is a file or folder on your computer called 'C:\Program' which could cause certain applications to not function correctly. Renaming it to 'C:\Program1' would solve this problem. Would you like to rename it now?"

Googling it so far I've concluded it isn't malware or a virus, but deleting the file results in it popping back up upon rebooting. Numerous other people have had this problem but claim it was from different causes and I can't find either an obvious cause of this or an obvious solution that would fix the popup constantly popping up.

Running Windows 7. The file is in the C:\ drive, it's recognized as only a 'FILE' type file and opening it with 7-Zip reveals it contains various folders such as "HTML" "HTML_IMG" and many many string.txt files all in different languages.

...Reading the english version of string.txt I suspect it has something to do with my avast! antivirus screwing up after starting the computer, saying that avast! encountered a fatal error or somesuch. Something about being unable to update to the new version, which I'm doing now.

Guys? computer pros here? Anyone ever encounter this popup?

EDIT:Fixed it. updated avast! to the newest version before deleting the weird Program.FILE and it was recycled/emptied recylce bin with no issues. Rebooting and avast! worked fine and the popup didn't return. Must be some way Windows handles an error when downloading information from a source that creates a Program file to store the info in. Or something. Your mileage may vary depending on what caused the Program to be made.

Anyway, crisis averted. Still gave me a WTF though.

Actually, it looks more like some program was given a command-line argument such as C:/Program Files/foo (without quotes), which was then split by whitespace. Try searching your drive for a folder named "Files", it should be in a location close to the program who dunnit.

also I like steam trading cards because I can sell them for steam wallet money
