I have driven through Las Vegas many times in the past few weeks. Until tonight, however, I have never been down the so-called Strip where many of the biggest, flashiest casinos/hotels/misc other buildings are. Cars and people and flashing lights and video billboards everywhere man. Also quite possibly the glitziest McDonald's sign ever. Good lawd.

Also, man, what. Neo. I was carpooling with you. I don't know what you look like, and I don't remember what you sound like, but you were driving an old station wagon around and I was hitching a ride. Just. I'unno. Letting you know. Don't read anything into it, it was a bloody weird dream. Dr. Wily was there (looked pretty awesome in person!), picking up some stuff at a gas station while an old friend was shop lifting. Then, I decked the latter and started yanking out the stuff he was stashing, got frustrated with the situation and out came the above note and end went the dream.

What a way to start a day, bleh.

I learned today that linking policies are a thing. I'm a software developer (of the web variety, even!) and I've never heard of something so stupid.

I found a link to Don't Link to Us, which set me on a bit of a Google search. That site may be ancient, but the practice of being a moron persists until this day.

I can actually understand the Jack Daniels one - they are under strict legal requirements to not be responsible for marketing to children (among other things). By saying that any links or promotions are occurring without their permission or agreement, they shield themselves from legal repercussions.

Sexbots are the driving force behind most of the VR industry. There's been a bunch of feminists in Canada who lobbied to ban sexbots as a physical thing before they're even made a while back, but I can't find the article at the moment so think of that as you will.

... 40 years? I'd expect sooner, depending on how feature, uh. Rich? A thing folks are after. There's already stuff that, like, talks and whatnot on the market, from what I recall. There's plenty of money being thrown at the development of such things, I do believe, and fairly basic models of something like that probably isn't far off (and there's probably prototypes already built/in construction), if folks wanted it built. And they kinda' do.

Mostly I'm curious about the wat response, though. What exactly were you expecting? Development of such things was an inevitability from the word go, and the likelyhood of it lagging far behind other developments in the robotics field was vanishingly slim. We're humans. This is one of the things we do. Have done, are doing, will do going forward.
