So this bad snowstorm hits half the US right, and everyone is freaking out and closing down schools left and right... and my college is the ONLY place to still have evening classes, because they "prepare you for the workforce" by never shutting down. The only time they shut down is if every other school in the state closes, then they MIGHT consider it.

I'm sorry, but don't regular workplaces have contingency plans in place, in case of inclement weather, like having the previous shift cover til morning? I know of several (hospitals, nursing homes, etc) that do that.

At least I don't get any flak for saying "no, I'm not driving 65 miles through quarter mile visibility, with icy roads and insane drivers everywhere to get to class".

Generally, they do not. I've been written up for not going to work on a day in which going to work would have been illegal due to road closure.

It's like they designers are trying to make something go wrong.

The same glacier that killed the first ship will probably come to life and eat the second one before it even launches now. Then we'll have a cruise-ship eating ice titan threatening oceanic trade as we know it. All because the designers just had to say that.
