Incidentally, the second (which you mentioned) is pretty much the same meaning, but more specifically referencing the spectrum of visible light. All hues can be made by mixing some combination of red, green, and blue (in light; additive colors; the primary hues).

I think what might be meant is pink isn't in the spectrum of colours, like a rainbow, and due to that it isn't a colour but our brain filling in a gap. I remember reading something about it but can't remember where, sorry.

White is everything, so red + white...

Strengthen green and blue equally and you have pink.

It's not a pure spectral color, being unsaturated. In other words, it requires a mix of wavelengths (in this case, red and magenta, the latter of which is also not a pure spectral color). If we're going to be completely precise, pink's hue is not merely a derivation of red (rather, it lies between red, magenta, and white), but that may be a little bit too much detail in the context of IPU; all that's really necessary is for IPU to possess color, the actual color is changeable depending on socio-cultural standards.

...So I managed to do the math pertaining to sustaining a fortress on the genetic material of seven dwarves and found out how to get to a minimum of thirteen dwarves over four generations without inbreeding and instead resorted to the seventh dwarf cradle robbing. I think I'm going to go find a nice padded cell and wonder why the hell I have the time to think about these sorts of things when clearly I could use my mind to solve the problems with overpopulation in China.
