So, you know how you have to go through the metal detectors at courthouses? Well, not always, but a lot of times, lawyers don't have to. Sometimes they make you bring your bar card or whatever (or you have a pass, etc). The idea being a.) you try anything stupid in a courthouse = immediate disbarment so you won't, b.) they schedule your crap back to back so you don't have time to go across the street with a 20 minute wait each time, c.) They already did a crazy background check to let you take the bar.

So I'm in this small courthouse for the first time; I guess that's why the rules were lax. Anyhow, they aren't carding to see who the lawyers are/who doesn't have to get metal detector-ed.

One guy in a suit tries to walk through, the guard stops him, "No way, you're way too damn happy to be a lawyer." Guard looks at me, "You, yeah you, go right on through." Keep in mind I had never seen this guard nor been in this courtroom before. I overheard the guard hassling the first guy for his bar card, "or at least an unpaid client bill."

The only time I ever visited a courthouse the guard accused me of hiding a gun on my person. Meant to be a joke, he clarified.

Heh. Last time I was in a courthouse (riding along with folks picking up someone), the cop on duty at the metal detector just kinda'... waved folks through. Especially the lawyers, but other folks as well. Thing was going off constantly, too. But no ID checks or anything, noope.

Small town though, yeah, closest court to th'house. Pop of about 2.5k, services pretty much the county as a whole.

That... actually looks pretty nice, if entirely too large to fit into any dorm I've roomed in. I had a raised bed a couple times (think bunk bed with the lower bunk just gone. Wish to fook I could find a good seller of those that didn't price gouge like a m'fooker, because they are flipping wonderful for small rooms.) where I would stick the computer/work desk under it and occasionally drape blankets from the bed itself to block shit out. Light, TV, room mate's debauchery, whatever. It's soothing, and makes it easy to hide disorganization/mess from roomies' company. Same concept, just juryrigged.

In personal wtf, was bringing in some peanuts still on the vine that were dropped off. Wasn't much, but as I was picking up one of the last bunches that were laying near the ground, something like fifteen millipedes dropped out of the mess. I was somewhat surprised! Mostly by quantity. Millipedes flipping everrywhere.

Was in a courthouse once, with school, in London, and since this was way back when the IRA was still active, everyone was frisked. Inside I suddenly found in my pocket a forgotten box of weed (this one shop put it in little boxes) that they luckily hadn't found. Man, did I shit bricks.
