Wow. I just noticed this gem:

It might not have seemed very dehumanizing when Walt Disney made Japanese people look silly with buck teeth and big glasses who could not pronounce their 'R's or their 'L's. But it was dehumanizing, and the purpose was to direct evil intentions against them, which ultimately resulted in the only nuclear holocaust that ever occurred in the history of humanity.

So, according to Carrean... Disney caused us to drop the atom bomb.

A nuclear holocaust has higher stakes, that being the near-extinction of the human race as opposed to regional genocide, and thus has higher prerequisites in my mind.

In the context of WWII, we would have had to at the very least nuked Honshu into an uninhabitable wasteland after Japan had already surrendered for that to be a nuclear holocaust.

This isn't a holocaust debate, this is a semantics debate on what constitutes the minimum to consider something a nuclear holocaust.

I'm not looking to start a debate. I just thought it was a little unbalanced to not call nuclear destruction a "holocaust" unless the death toll was nearly 270 times as high as the holocaust in the 40s. Just an odd observation.

Just to throw this out there, you might want to revise your personal definition of holocaust. It means large-scale destruction, especially by fire, which results in an extensive loss of life, and comes from the root word for "burnt offering". It pretty much perfectly describes the effects of an atomic bomb on a large population center.
