Those filters are really only an obstacle for the non-nerds anyway. Back in high school my friends and I would just tunnel out to our home computers and browse whatever we wanted.

As a matter of fact, unless Google Translate is blocked you can just use that as a proxy website. I believe that there are exactly two web filter proxy thingies that actually look at more than the URL, and those are the only ones that will pick it up. Plus, odds are good Translate won't be blocked.

 Yeah, Google Translate is blocked at my school, counts as proxy. Which is damn annoying because some of us want to actually translate things occasionally.

Mostly, I just use it to force a case of lost-in-translation by translating a phrase through a chain of distant, unrelated languages, and comparing the result with the original. It gets... odd... at times.

For example:
Games (games) but of course, you can download games. Just not search the word games, no. Game works though... And you can use the dwarf fortress forums.
Murder(obscene/tasteless)makes it hard to do schoolwork when you can't search any words related to killing at all.
Tasteless(explicit art)!!! You can't include the word tasteless! You can include tastless and it autocorrects, but not tasteless.
Explicit art - Allowed. Why isn't it blocked? Who knows?

It sounds like the blocks are decided by an art school dropout. Murder isn't bad because it's murder, just because it's tasteless. But you CAN'T BLOCK ART, MAN!

I finally updated Nightly and everything looked wrong, so I had to spend twenty minutes fixing it. I got the zoom and font size to an equilibrium in which B12, -chans, SB, and Youtube all look mostly right, good enough. :S
