Nothing is blocked on my uni, as far as I know. There's also a few dozen games available on each pc, like Doom, Warcraft 3, and San Andreas.

You hardly ever see anyone gaming though. Most people just do that at home :P

I found out today that my school blocks most ports, which is not new, EXCEPT for the IRC ports.
Which is exactly what I need for my plans of world domination and/or bypassing the school proxy to impress friends.

My school blocked the forums for having games.
But not the cataclysm forums...

Can't have people illegally downloading RAM on school computers, y'know, kids these days...

Back when I was in high school, both the internet and network access was pretty heavily locked down. Didn't stop us from playing the Halo multiplayer demo or DooM a lot, and there was one computer in one of the machine shops that was so heavily loaded with spyware (introduced by the incompetent repair techs) that all of the security (not the internet filter, but ALL of the network security, for the entire regional network) was disabled. The computer was removed when somebody printed a thousand-page nonsense paper from it. Using a printer at a school on the other side of the city.

Why does having touchscreens make them lucky?
Touchscreens SUCK. you click on something but NOPE YOU ACTUALLY CLICKED ON SOMETHING ELSE RIGHT NEXT TO IT HAHAHA.
a mouse is much better in that regard. If it's a proper tablet you don't even get a good keyboard.

My school has a program that automatically blocks websites based on certain categories.

The 'Got Milk?' website is blocked for being a  food/dining website.

And a non-improvement with normal computers as a result. (8.1 aside)

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

The local Heart and Stroke lottery website is blocked because gambling, since you can buy the tickets off the site. This, in its self, is kind of silly but understandable. But each year someone from upper management without fail emails a link to it over the work email, telling people to support it. It seems strange that the company supports it, but refuses you access to it. I dunno, sounds less outrageous typed out actually...

The best is when you can find ones that are blocked for being "educational".

Those filters are really only an obstacle for the non-nerds anyway. Back in high school my friends and I would just tunnel out to our home computers and browse whatever we wanted.
