Pudding stone

First, it's brown. Brown is boring and dull. Why would I build my fort out of brown stone when I have much more appealing stone just beneath it.

Second, the name. Imagine if you built a grand castle out of puddingstone. It would be a joke. You can't make something sound intimidating or impressive when the word pudding is involved. I can't imagine kobold thieves sitting around a camp fire, telling legendary tales about the wondrous treasures held behind the impenetrable puddingstone walls. It would sound like a fortress from candy land.

But silly names are fun.

I hate andesite the damn stuff melts too easy.

Also I assume you are the same internet kraken from the escapist, or you and that guy have very similar choices in avatars and names.

Microcline. Microcline. Microcline. It invades my eyes with its cyan nausea that it irradiates over everything. It makes my soul vomit, my eyes cringe. Rage. Microcline is to be dumped in magma on sight. No exceptions. And the dwarf that hauled the microcline is to be dropped into magma as well. For he or she is then unclean. Oh I tried changing its color, oh how I tried. Even though the new color was much more pleasing, it was too late. Because in my mind I knew it was essentially just microcline with new appearance. Microcline will always be microcline. Once hated it - always will hate it.

Fear and Loathing in Controlmerchants. Hematite 25th, in the year 355.

Anything grey. I build my forts to look like a crayon factory has just vomited over them.

OLIVINE, KIMBERLITE AND REALGAR EVERYWHERE!

To add to this:

COBALTITE, GARNIERITE AND ORTHOCLASE TOO!

Don't forget the blood, ichors and secretions of various creatures.

Engraved on the monitor is an exceptionally designed image of FPS in Dwarf Fortress and it's multicore support by Toady. Toady is raising the multicore. The artwork relates to the masterful multicore support by Toady for the Dwarf Fortress in midwinter of 2010. Toady is surrounded by dwarves. The dwarves are rejoicing.

I hate building things out of Andesite, Felsite, any of those massively available rocks.

Tacky and cheap, proper dwarves shouldn't have to live in places filled with these poor excuses for rocks.

Proper dwarves live in rooms of Marble/Microcline/Obsidian/Cotton Candy.

MICROCLINE, BAUXITE, AND BRIMSTONE MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!!!

BRIMSTONE IS FORGETTABLE AS IT IS THE SAME COLOR AS THE MIGHTY ORTHOCLASE.

CAPS LOCK IS FUN.
WHY IS THERE NO CINNABAR IN YOUR LIST?!!!

Anyway, I also like to only make my bins, beds and barrels out of subterranean trees or rose gold or black bronze or bismuth bronze or or or...

These colour explosions are awesome.

Thirded for brown walls. This is supposed to be a fortress, not a sewer.

Apart from that, any stone goes, as long as the colors are similar or alternate orderly
Oh and nethercap/bloodthorn/glumsprong/goblincap/tunneltube/you-get-the-idea barrels are awesome.

I know I know!

Slade.

Or SMR.

Contrary to popular belief, magma is actually a very nice building material.  Just add water, instant stone!

I have abandoned fortresses because they had too much orthoclase.

I prefer any black, grey or white strone.

Dislike red or brown, unless they're together...

Everything just ends up red from blood anyway though...

I hate brown. I'm also not a big fan of Orthoclase. Most other stones range from tolerable to deeply beloved (Bauxite, oh how I wish for infinite bauxite...)

Olivine, once smoothed, becomes highlighter-like green. It's not fun, unless you're taking the circus stuff too seriously.
Also, it looks more elvish than dwarvish.

Microcline. Microcline. Microcline.

This x100. Microcline is the bane of my existence. And it's always the most common stone in my regions according to dfprospector. :'( Orthoclase enrages me too, probably worse, but it's far less common. I also dislike brown rocks, but my first fortress was made entirely out of siltstone so there's some nostalgia there.

I like to build my hospital tables and benches out of Microline, and the beds of featherwood. Looks all clean and sterile. Hate grey walls.

Personally I hate granite. It's just so... dull.
Blasphemy! I luvvv granite D:

Granite can certainly be beautiful in real life, unfortunately that can't be displayed ingame. Same goes for marble.

Olivine, once smoothed, becomes highlighter-like green. It's not fun, unless you're taking the circus stuff too seriously.
Also, it looks more elvish than dwarvish.

I don't think I've had it like that, may depend on what tileset you use though and the colors. Garnierite is the one that turns a highliter-like lime green when smoothed though. Otherwise Olivine is a dark green for me.

Is such possible? Can one REALLY change the colour of such an abomination!?

EDIT: In looking into objects, I have purged Microcline and Orthoclase from my game.
