I would greatly appreciate it if somebody would locate and mark out chunk 0 for me. Apparently there are some oddities in how the creature spawning code handles that chunk and I'm hoping I can build an industrial-scale mob trap for the public's benefit. For best results, I would need the entirety of chunk 0 and an additional four tiles in every direction. Also cobblestone. LOTS of cobblestone.

EDIT: If I can get this going, do you folks want to have peaceful mobs in the mix or just hostile ones? There isn't much of a difference in the amount of work needed, but attempting to switch once I'm done building would be a pain.

Chunk 0 0 is the spawn.

From what I've read on this matter, Chunk ID 0 is not automatically the spawn chunk, but generally occurs fairly close to it. You'd need the map save and a good cartographer to be able to find it readily. These threads are the source of most of my material and the design I plan to use if you want to take a look yourself.

I know the tower thread says the spawn algorithm has changed, but Notch has since said that he reverted the spawn code in the recent round of patches because dangerous depths were more annoying than he planned. Even if I can't get chunk 0, I'd still like your permission to build one of these, since they seem a tad game-breaking.

In fact, our spawn is centered on the corner of the chunk; creating equal quadrants.

IF YOU DIG NEXT TO ANIMALS WHILE DEAD, YOU CORRUPT YOUR DAT AND CANNOT RELOG UNTIL TYLUI OR MYSELF DELETES IT.
You don't want that.

Yeah.  Notch fixed that one.  But it also happens if you die while wearing armor.

Okay, ops, I really need you to watch who you promote.
I had to ban a user who I had never seen as a guest last night.
It completely defeats the purpose of the guest system if you just promote anybody who asks.
