He he he, I'd already noted down the bug from the discussion thread.  There was nothing you could do to save it.

I remember doing this to strip off the armor of merchant guards when I was playing  on a very low-metal map. Very useful.

If you manage to strip him without he sticking his axe on your throat, sure.

I've been killing Caravan guards for weapons and armor.

I have been using the latest version of the game and I've not once successfully been able to steal a guards pants, no matter how many times I've tried.

I could really use steel on the map I am on and intended to abuse this to the fullest!  But alas.

Actually it was good it didn't work this last trading season, as I got sieged and depended on the caravan guards to take out a wave of 15 or so goblins.

of course, after that, I had more items to trade than I could carry there before they left.

Will you allow for us to have a command to strip goblins of certain items? I prefer to have unarmed goblin prisoners, and I always used the dump bug for goblins only.

I can note that command down, though I might not get to it at the same time this bug is fixed.

If something is stored in a cage, it would be nice to be able to dump there items, weather it be a merchant or a goblin.

Although, don't the merchants still remember that the items that have been taken from them belong to them?  Sort of like with hungry dwarves stealing from the caravan, I'd assume that there's a point where they check and realize that they've left items in the fortress, and put it on your tab...

Or does this get around those checks because of the odd way it's happening?

EDIT:  Regarding captured prisoners...  maybe they should be stripped automatically?  It doesn't really make any sense for the dwarves to leave them their weapons and armor, and I can't think of any reason why they would by default (maybe you'd want to set up an arena and make prisoners fight, but that would the weird case...  it would be more logical for stripping them of their equipment to happen by default, and have a seperate command to re-arm them for forced arena fights if you really want to do that.)

sounds like something for the slavery/prisoner arc. slaves/prisoners would have their own v menu where you could order them into weapons/armor, either for arena fights or to toss them out the front door to fight that dragon coming in
