ONE WORLD UNITED

It is a glorious day here on September 12, 2010! After the dissolution of the United Nations on June 15th, 2004, now known to the world as The Second Death of Intergovernment, things looked very dark for our Earth. Embroiled in a War on Terror that brought about the UN's death, many thought the end was upon us all. Fears of nuclear war struck upwards, but have now been swayed away with the offical formation of the One World Union on this historic day. Big changes are on the way for everyone, and now that a system of global government exists above the biased views of our individual warring states, global peace finally seems at hand. While the membership of the OWU have decided that the international charter of laws shoud remain with top secret for now, country represenatives have claimed it will be publically posted once "possible international disruption from its unveiling" is no longer a concern.

Nonetheless, we can already guess two of the more obvious effects of the charter, with the "www." of all internet sites now being replaced with the letters "owu." assumably this change has been made to give a sense of unity to our divided internet communites. Second are the appearence of the Regulation Agents. Regulation Agents are One World Union appointed officials, usually appointed to monitor sites or groups of sites, so that they can be sure the makers, and members in the case of message boards and forums, are abiding by restrictions put upon internet actions for the sake of continued harmony around the world.

So, I had an idea for a forum game, dispite never having ran one before. In my reading habits, I am absolutely in love with distopias of various types. It made me wonder how it would be to be at the start of a distopic future, however. So, here we are. In a present almost the same as our own, but not as bright. One where the UN fell apart years ago, and like the League of Nations before it, was replaced. But this time the replacement is somthing far more sinister, an ultra-authoritarian global government that can override national laws on a whim. In this timeline, you are all almost the same as you are in reality, with account to be taken for minor historical changes that you will be informed of. (EDIT:Uh, not to say that I'll try to dictate new history for you or anything, I mean that the world will be changed and you'll have to come to your own conclusions about those changes.) Even our beloved Bay 12 exists within it. There are of course, some changes. The big important one is such: In this timeline, website owners don't have absolute control over their members. They can be subverted and even shut down by their site's appointed Regulation Agent, in the event they do not abide by the One World Union's mandates. Of course, many of the OWU's wishes are still classlified in the name of global harmony, so you are all very screwed.

Every day, I will either post a real news article or make one myself. You will all discuss it, because in-universe these days will represent individual General Disscussion threads on said article. While I will post the articles as MetalSlimeHunt, in this universe I am not as much of a poster. So consider all other posts by me to be by the Regulation Agent of Bay 12 unless stated otherwise. As you end up (and trust me, you will) breaking the secret rules you will face infractions, bans, permabans, all of the above plus monetary fines, and/or all of the above plus jailtime/mandatory harmony classes. Last one standing "wins" in the sense that you get to live unbrainwashed and unjailed in a world gone to hell once Bay 12 gets knocked off the net.

Also, what if say, we use something like Tor? Would it have any effect on weather or not they found our house and arrested us or not?

Nope, those effects are permanent, although brainwashed and not banned members can feel free to post untill the end of the day their assigned harmony training ends, to freak out everyone else with their changes. But good OWU pawns don't risk dissent by staying on the less obediant portions of the internet longer than that.

The OWU exihibits control over the entire internet. Tor won't help you much, assuming such tools wouldn't be scrubbed from existance the day the OWU took power.

Not really. You can join in the same vein as everyone else and mock the OWU if you want, but I doubt you'll last long.

I would like to request entrance to this game of yours, the topic is interesting and I myself do enjoy reading fiction novels with a Distopia. I'll do my best to not get "banned/permabanned" but I can't say anything about not having to go to Harmony classes. Or being brainwashed. Though I would like to ask, Is Dwarf Fortress still existent in this universe??? Can we kill giant living statues of bronze with bunnies in dwarf fortress still??? DID THEY KILL DF!?!?!
