That is the official CK2 save game converter. It will be 10 bucks after EU4 releases or free with a preorder iirc

Oh that's nice been awhile since I preordered so I hadn't checked the store page since about June.

Whoa... there's going to be an official save converter?  Yay, I'll be to enter EU4 already owning all of Europe!  That'll be totally worth playing.

On a more serious note I'd probably just jump between rulers whenever one died, that way I'd get an alternate history world that isn't totally consumbed by a deathball.

I'm currently making an extremely crazy world to convert. Doing a lot of character-hopping and observe mode. Started on The Old Gods bookmark. So far:
Denmark has formed, owns more than half of Britain and Ireland and is orthodox. All pagan religions have been reformed, and zoroastrianism has had it's priesthood restored. The Karling realms have not merge into one death-blob, and Burgundy has emerged. Non-Rurikovich Rus formed. Umayyads and West Francia are fighting over iberia, with what little remains of Asturias trying to survive. And, based on one event I got as Norway (explorers finding land to the west of iceland) I may get a sunset invasion (which I'll then manipulate to avoid them from overruning Europe, but still achieving a foothold).

I guess I could share the save when EUIV launches.

One thing I've wanted try is hopping between each major religion/culture group (the lines would be pretty arbitrary), going in order from most powerful to least powerful, and attempt to use a single character's lifetime to RUIN that particular group as much as I could.  Basically just playing a bunch of insane and treasonous rulers.  The main rule is that I couldn't play as a ruler that controlled their entire religion, because that would be too easy.

Not sure if it would be fun or not.  It can be such a time investment to get going on a CK2 game and I still have a few floating around, never enough time to do everything I want to.

Also... observe mode?  What's that?

I think I'll stick to the 1444 start when it comes out, and when that gets bored I will convert ck2 start dates.
Saves tend to be so messy :P.

I did notice that the EU4 demo runs faster than CK2, even though it was on a higher resolution. I don't think I'll ever touch CK2 again :P

Also... observe mode?  What's that?

Open the console and type 'console' and then 'fow'.

You are now nobody and can watch the AI play ck2. It's a fun thing to do while studying or reading a book c:

That's awesome.  You'd think they'd just add an observe button if the code already works.

Open the console and type 'console' and then 'fow'.
A small correction, you open the console (I use Alt+numpad2+numpad1) and type 'observe', not 'console'.

EDIT: Save here if you want it.

I actually wonder how the Aztecs would be ported from CKII to EUIV, since they would be very far from normal Aztecs, and will either doomblob all over the Americas, or all Native nations will be uplifted to a similar level of technology. Or, of course, there could be a really easily conquerable block of land in western Europe, where France and Spain Castile usually are.

Paradox actually talked about this. If sunset invasion was active during conversion (even if the invasion itself never triggers) there will two doomblobs on the Americas. The Aztecs themselves and the Inca (they are mentioned in some events in SI and may have gunpowder).

That's... a very interesting world indeed. That's the kind of oddness people would want to play on as an alternate history map.

I tried an observer game myself, but since I didn't interact with it at all, things didn't go quite how I thought they would.

I'll describe it behind the spoiler.

You get the greenland and vinland events regardless of sunset invasion. You will get an aztec invasion if and only if you have the dlc enabled.
