Why the hell did you reclaim, breadbocks? Playing without mud in caverns and with free equipment of previous embark scattered around is like... like... well, it's cheating >:(

I think (read:hope) that he empty-wagonned the first time.
Nah, he didn't IIRC.

...do you want me to make a new site and upload a save? The playthrough might not have (m)any screenshots, though.

A new embark site? Yeah that would be nice. I'd prefer it not to have aquifers because I can't deal with them, but that's just my opinion and people might want the challenge.

I'm not good with aquifers either. How about I find a place with an aquifer on only half the embark site, just for a challenge?

Save will be up sometime in the next 24 to 48 hours, depending on whether or not I'm sick again

Still, WHY did you abandon? Why couldn't you simply embark and post the save?

Because he forgot to post the screens and map the first time around.

There's actually information in the links and posts, just so you know. Read more carefully.

I've loaded the save and will start mining the history.
I will post a compiled version of my findings as part of my turn, but I'm not planning to play a year 1 version.

-edit-
Hm, first impression: The world looks interesting, but the embark site seems boring.
Sure, it will be hard as hell to survive, but it's just a flat, hot, naked single biome. Not much room for different approaches. ( ??? ?)

(- edit again: ignore above and I will wait for the real file.  :-[ -)

...um, I said I was going to post a save. (Which I can do today since I'm off school again.)

Actually, I'll start on that right now. Just a heads-up - there'll be a few modded plants (cotton, juniper berries, rye and cave potatoes) and drinks (gin, Dwarven whiskey and Dwarven vodka). Anyone mind that?

"Well boys, we're under new management now."

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That's all they told us, as another wagon rolled in. Some pretentious looking dwarf in fancy clothing (a sure sign they need that axe removed from their arse) came out and sneered at us, and we glared back.

"Treat him nice. He's going to call all the shots from now on. We don't need another black mark on us over at management."

While touring the fortress, he seemed to avoid us, looking at us as if we were carp, and stepped carefully. He sometimes jumped over spots with seemingly no pattern, as if there was some mound of dirt that was invisible to everyone but him. He's starting to annoy me already. Dwarves shouldn't give themselves air or have their mind up in the ceiling like them headbangers.

It's not that I dislike management shifts. I just don't like him.

It's been almost three weeks now, and we're starting to settle back into our normal rhythms.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

To be honest, he's not as bad as I expected. He's already starting to solve some problems (namely, the lack of booze and that rotting wagon outside). Stocks are being taken more accurately now. Some more migrants have come to help out, despite the fact that we're pretty small as of now, and things are generally going well. He's making us dig a rather pointless staircase near the place the wagon was outside, but I can't argue with that except on principle, as work is good for the bones and I haven't done much in a while.
