Subversion, which is a ways out...but looks pretty mind-blowing.
Hazeron, which is literally the game I've been wanting all my life, even moreso since first discovering Noctis.  It's buggy and laggy but it has a pretty darn professional team fixing those bugs.

I mean...This is a timeline that stretches over a few years, sure, but look at the bigger picture.

I feel like we fell into the gaming dark ages right after Half-Life and Alpha Centauri came out, and we just started climbing back out of it a couple years ago.  Plus, we're starting to amass a collection of modern simple side-scrollers again, even if they are pretty simple:  Untitled Story and Iji are this generation's Commander Keen.  For all the complaints about how games just aren't what they used to be...  well, they're starting to become what they used to be, again.  Complexity is no longer a dirty word.

What other games fit that pattern of coming back out of the long dark ages of poor games and knock-offs?  We'll never be the mass-market target, but people ARE marketing to us, the original audience of the early to middle 90s.

Innovation died of somewhere near 2000 (for me) in the commercial gaming sector.
And I doubt its comming back.

Indie games and freeware are the last good games.

I wish it was true that good games are coming back, but everything seems to be put below eyecandy on the todo list, Portal 2 looks like it will be good but thats one game out of the hundreds released a year.
EDIT:Freeware and indie is a cliff of rock, there are a few gems among all the rock.

...although I will admit. Most good games in these times are indie games.
