I finally got around to starting The Magicians. I know it was on right before another TV show I used to watch, so I know how the first or second season ends. To be fair, knowing there are additional seasons almost counts as a spoiler for the "twist" they tried.

Also, I'm constantly distracted that one character looks like Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde.

So, I got to Season 1, Episode 9.

Without spoiling too much...

In other TV news, Supernatural season 14 just ended with yet another apocalyptic finale.
God creates a godkiller gun and hands it to the Winchester boys. What could possibly go wrong?
Murder-clowns, bloody mary's, wailing banshees and zombie hordes, that's what.
Although the inevitable resolution next season seems way too obvious...

The writers order a few more sharks, and more water skis? Also, probably make 1 more episode next season that takes the show as seriously as it deserves (0%).

Almost finished with nerd-ass soap opera The Magicians Season 1.

Thank you Netflix for getting me to watch entertainingly trash tv. It helped me have low enough expectations to make it through the original The Italian Job. I know that reads as sarcasm, but I actually mean it.

I watched a little bit of Supernatural back in the day, and there were actually quite a few things I liked... But then I kinda feel like things went way too deep into the angels and demons shtick, and I wasn't as interested in all of that... I'm a Creature Feature man, dammit! I don't want no metaplot!

Agreed. And ~9 Seasons later they're still going, so someone's still watching.

Also, does anyone have any thoughts on Netflix's "Tuca and Birdie" or "I think you should leave"? I've watched the first episode of each and I'm not sure yet on either.

Loving What We Do In the Shadows right now. I was disappointed by the change of cast from the movie at first, but the show's definitely won me over at this point. Episodes 6 and 7 particularly had me grinning throughout. And damn, there's no getting that intro song out of my head. You're dead, you're dead, you're dead...

I'm watching Brooklyn Nine Nine. At first I thought it was some silly Parks and Rec-type bullshit, but now, gods I love this show.
It's at the point where you feel as though the characters are old friends who you love, hate, or love to hate but it is yet to become even slightly formulaic.
Not that I watch many "cop shows". For all I know it is formulaic by their standards. Dunno.

Watched the first episode of Chernobyl on HBO Go.

Really enjoyed it. I'm not much for disaster porn but I loved Stalker and have always been entranced by nuclear accidents. I guess it's just how scary nuclear power and radiation poisoning can be. The invisible killer. How completely unstoppable it is as a force of nature once it slips human control. The first episode, set right as the reactor explodes, is about as grim as you'd think. The set pieces are great. My only gripe so far is that EVERYONE is a British actor. Ugh. I'd prefer people speaking English with Russian accents.

Got me so hyped I went out and started redownloading the Stalker games.

The drop in quality of King of the Hill coincides very neatly with when the episode descriptions on Hulu start listing the guest voice actors.

Skellan Skarsgard transcends nationalities. Also accents.

Haven't really watched anything of late, except that I began rewatching Critical Role Campaign 1 a while ago.

Have to admit that I enjoy this much, much more than the ongoing second campaign. The first campaign has more of a chaotic "playing RPGs with your friends" feel to it, while the second one is too much a "proper" show for my taste (though, I do enjoy it, too).

Yeah, having actors/improvisers play RPGs takes something away from it. Then again, I prefer heist games, so people coming up with a plan c on the fly that works better than it should is my thing.
