Gaiman is toxic now? My literary idol? The gentle giant? What?
First I'd heard of it but, inevitably, its:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Gaiman#Sexual_assault_allegationsWithout making
any uninformed judgements on this case, it is the current zeitgeist. Either:
* for long-standing muted complainants to now have the courage to become unmuted,
* for long-standing honest errors/misunderstandings to become raised as actual accusations, or
* for other, far less actionable (or even deliberate/realistic/actual), grievances to emerge in an inspired wave of
complaints-du-jour.
Pick and choose your 'favourite' interpretation.
We know he's an outwardly affable person. We know (some) sex-pests can be outwardly affable. But so can actually affable people. If I look like I'm pushing back against due process, I'm not, just a bit wary of The Court Of Popular Opinion dogpiling on anyone like this.
I've no sympathy with the late Mohammed Fayed, but would have prefered a legal process to decide his guilt (prehumously, ideally) or otherwise, as with Saville/etc.
And whether the whole lot of the Gisèle Pericot accused are as complicit as her husband might (probably will) be deigned to be is best left to the courts.
In a different vein, see how rapidly general opinion turned on Chris Kaba, at least outside those who always assumed he was a wrong'un (for fewer reasons than made me comfortable) and those who still hold him up as a wronged angel (despite the revelations).
Not that I'm expecting to see GO s2 any time soon, anyway, due to the increased multipaywall-fragmentation of the entertainment industry and my sheer stubborness (plus practical reasons, like bandwidth) in never subscribing to anything. By the time I might, hopefully proper justice has served whoever actually deserves it. Though stains and suspicions do tend to stick around even upon "the wrong done to them now having been righted" parties...
