I would like to submit Benjamin D. "Gryphon" Hutchins from Undocumented Features. Links:

Admittedly, none of those links are ideal for the purpose of describing Gryphon. (You might expect the last one to be, but that's only the case if you have a few months of free time).

I nominate Jigsaw Forte from last resort

deviant art character sheet
first page of the webcomic(yeah you will have to read to get anything from this link
We need a collected page of details.  Just posting sauce when combat abilities aren't simple and obvious (TO ME) isn't enough.
Also, one character per person.

Fine, I'll just go with this thing...

And if that fail due to the invulnerability clause, I will just have to settle for Tex...
T-1000: Rejected.  Tex: Accepted.

Multiple submissions
Which one of the two Greek heroes is your top pick?  I'd be willing to accept either one of them.

He's got an entry under God Mode Sue.  He's also got an entry under Author Avatar.  Oh, and he's immortal.  Rejected.

Detians aren't actually immortal, just really hard to kill.

Nevertheless, I should have guessed that the Midgard-Knight would be too overpowered for this.

I will try nominating someone else: Isaac from the Golden Sun series.

It's quite a toughie. Probably Ajax because although he's described doing fewer awesome things, the concentration of awesome things to appearances is higher. If someone else wants to suggest Odysseus themselves, I would enocurage them.

I'd go with Ajax.

My submission this time is... Sockarang, of Axe Cop fame.

He's the one with the beard.

Axe Cop... I saw a picture of him with Dr. McNinja. 0_o

SOMEBODY PUT DR. McNINJA IN THE CONTEST RIGHT NOW.

Ajax the Great (Greek myth)
Accepted

One submission per person.

PREEMPTIVELY REJECTED.  REASON:  PERSONAL BIAS.

Sixteen characters should be enough.  Submissions are now closed.

We will now flesh out the details of the fights.  Where should the fights take place?  Should injuries sustained in a fight carry on to future fights?  What rules, if any are enforced?  That sort of thing.

Another thing to consider. Should the combatants know before the fight starts that they will be in a fight? And if so, should they know who they are up against? Or just know that they will be fighting someone?

The fights should be held in neutral territory. Some hypothetical place where both have full access to their powers but no allies or tfamiliarity with the terrain.

Injuries should not carry over.

Good question... no idea.

I agree with both of these suggestions.

I think they should know they're in a fight, but not who they're fighting.

Injuries would be interesting, and would give people excuses when they lost...
As for battlefield...
Featureless is boring, Battlefield reminded me of Battlefield 1942, but that might not be familiar to everyone...

Does anyone here have a decent map of this place?

Neutral place that allows full access to powers, but no allies or familiarity sounds good to me. As does the injuries not carrying over.

I think they should know they're in a fight, but not who they're fighting.

Know in advance that they will be in a fight? I'm good with that.

what about equipment? The equipment that the various contenders would normally have access to would vary greatly, and could prevent the relative merits of the contenders from being considered fairly.
