I'm sorry :p It's all they were doing. No one was hauling furniture, no one was planting. I think in my next turn I'll have a good look at the skills and do some organising there. Unless someone beats me to it. You men are such disorganised creatures.

And about the disorganised thing. This thread was organised at first... Just with the speed things are done its ridiculous to try to keep it in order. Now that everybody on the list has done it its easier and quicker to let available people play than to find a time when all 15 or so people are online.

Epilogue: I made a pact with Oidip upon my emigration to this place. If she ever needed a break from her duties, I would assume command. Who was I to turn down control, even if only for a little while? On the 18th of Galena, I got my chance to govern. This was one of the largest mistakes in all of Dwarven History.
18th Galena: I have taken command of this post, without really assessing the situation. Things are much worse than I could have ever imagined. We have no booze, no fish, only 8 amongst our meat supplies, and very few picks. On a positive note, we have many dogs. Perhaps they will help Oidip hunt any animals that are unlucky enough to venture upon this place.
Three dwarves died of thirst within my first half hour as our glorious leader. I set up another still, and ordered all stills to churn out as much booze as possible. I set one carpenter’s shop to churning out barrels, and one to making buckets.  I assigned a new Chief Medical Dwarf, and a new Bookkeeper.
That night, I had a nightmare of slowly dying of thirst, baked on the lip of the volcano’s cauldron. I fear that this may be more of a vision than a nightmare.
19th Galena: I was awakened with terrible news. One of the other Dwarves had dragged himself into my room to tell me that cappstv had died of thirst. I was also informed that there was no cemetery or coffins. Dwarves who had given their lives to this place lay in the fields and workshops, and the old bookkeeper had died in his chair. I had not understood the disrespect to the dead that this place offered.
I ordered the making of as many coffins as these weary people could make. I hope we do not need too many as time passes.
22nd Galena: I took a walk to clear my head over the past couple of days, and noticed that there were many bright spots that this place offered, aside from the overwhelming thirst. There is much metal in this place, much that is very valuable, and would be useful to our cause. I also noted in my journey that there were numerous slugmen around. I shudder in horror at what could lie in the caverns.
23rd Galena: Today I offered my services to Oidip in her military regiment. I killed 2 slugmen with my bare hands, as no melee weapons have been crafted yet. Oidip seems happy, and quite skilled, with a crossbow.
26th Galena: Today, I drew up the plans for a large mausoleum. This place would not dishonor the dead while I still breathe, as short a time as that may be. I’m so thirsty.
27th Galena: The brewers are outputting a good amount of booze. Today, I had a draught of wine for the first time in what seems like ages. After everyone got their fill, there were still 20 barrels left! This news makes me extremely glad. Our smelter is now working copper as fast as they can, and I have set up several more smelters around the rim of our volcano. I plan to put up forges, but we do not have any anvils to spare. This will have to change soon.
1st Limestone: Autumn has come, and with it, two more needless deaths. Two miners died of thirst this day, even though we have a sparse amount of booze available. I have heard musings among my peers to hoard the stocks to themselves. Perhaps this has already started. I will investigate the situation.
3rd Limestone: We have had another Dwarf fall from thirst. Something is seriously wrong in this place. Perhaps the heat of the volcano is too overwhelming? I do not know. I have assured that the stocks are open to everyone, but we are still dropping like flies. I do not understand. Hopefully, someone will con some migrants to come to this forsaken place.  We could use all the hands we can get on the farms and in the stills. I need to set up more farms, but there are more pressing matters. I have heard tale of a swarm of Crundles in the caverns. I fear for the fortress’ safety.
4th Limestone: Praise Dodok! The first of our new smelters is up and running. It is smelting a little bit of the vast reservoir of hematite that lies in wait in the mountain. I am tired of fighting in my clothes and with my hands. If we are to attack the Crundles (and whatever other horrors may lie below,) we need to set up a suitable army. I have not the skill for this task, as I am a simple leatherworker.
We still have no coffins, even though they are badly needed. Every Dwarf deserves a proper burial, and until we have coffins, they will not receive as such.
6th Limestone: Another of our number succumbs to thirst. I assume that they were overcome with heat from working in the magma forges, as there is plenty to drink now. Perhaps we need to set up some more traditional workspaces. Oidip has started throwing a tantrum. Logem tries to follow suit, but is too tired to do much more than shake a fist at passersby, and quickly calms down.
7th Limestone: The screaming of Oidip has gone on long enough. I cannot take any more. When will it end? No one can dine in peace because she is in the dining hall, screaming at everyone at the top of her lungs. Logem is tantruming his his sleep. Our Chief Medical Dwarf states that he is not feverish, but I suspect otherwise.

11th Limestone: I have recovered from my…breakdown. I have lost all faith in my governing abilities; however, I refuse to let anyone else down. Dodok has gone completely insane. Where I recovered, I fear that he never will. He has taken to harassing everything that crosses his path, Dwarves, dogs and doors alike. I fear he would attempt to battle Armok himself if given the chance. Everyone has shied away from him for now, thankfully. The mausoleum has still not been started, nor have any coffins. This place reeks of death.
13th Limestone:  My thoughts often turn toward returning to the mountainhomes. I fear that I have no leadership ability, and that I may be confounding the problems that this place is already having.
Whoever trained the war dogs did an excellent job. Dodok attacked one, and was summarily crippled. Eventually, Oidip put him out of his misery with a crossbow bolt. I suppose that was the nicest thing one could do for him.
17th of Limestone: I give up. I can no longer bear the burden of this place on my shoulders. Litast has withdrawn from society, secretly gathering materials, but I no longer care. I no longer care about the tantrums, or the miasma, or the brawls in the dining hall, or even living here anymore. I just want to leave and never speak of this horrid place again. I have failed everyone. I have failed.
I prepare now to explore the caverns. Perhaps they will lead me away from this place. Perhaps they will kill me, and I can be rid of the nightmares and the weight on my chest. The sadness I feel is overwhelming.

This is a tale of the great medicine man known as Shibdib.

Ayyy, so this maximus fellow handed the command of the fortress over to me for a bit. Bout time someone intelligent took charge of this dump.. I say that literally, there is a growing purple cloud of nastiness just billowing throughout the halls.

So on 18th of Limestone in the year 1052 my first order of business as.. ahem.. dictator .. was to reorganize these simple folk beneath me's work schedules.

19th Limestone 1052
- What in the hell, half this place is insane and throwing tantrums.
- So with all these crazies around, I decided it was time to build a room i could hide away in. Seeing how I was the leader, manager, and chief medical dwarf.. I figured I deserved some nice digs.
- Busy day it seem's, one of my hunters decided to begin constructing something at a craftsdwarf shop... Perhaps something nice for my room.

22nd Limestone 1052
- This place is a mad house, the previous rulers seem to have forgotten to grow food.. We have alot of these pig tail characters but I attempted to eat one and nearly choked! So I've designated a few farmers to cultivate a few delicious fields of plump helmets.

6th Sandstone 1052
- It appears we have a justice problem.. We have 1 case of building destruction, 3 cases of disorderly conduct, and the ex leader Oidip has been sentenced to a beating and 201 days in prison for Murder...
- I've assigned one of the few sane men left, Tekkud Urist..something, to be the forts sherriff. I also ordered the immediate contruction of a prison and the necessary furniture.
- I also cant seem to find a hospital? Perhaps in my old age I forgot where it is, so I've also begun construction of one of those.

13th Sandstone 1052
- Dear god, I've witnessed a murder. One of our miners has taken his pick and turned it against Oidip!... Wait a second, he just murdered my old murderer, hmph maybe I should make this miner a sherriff!

14th Sandstone 1052
- O no.. their coming for me! This mad house has just taken it to a new level, they've armed themselves... O god what is tha... NO DONT!..... (Apparently a tanner found a copper battle axe and decapitated me)

I Love this place!
We set up in a peacful place with lots of water. EVERYTHING we neede. yet still 2 years in we have murderers. I'm on of them. I must've got a taste for blood when I killed that first snailman!
