If you use the latest version, the issue with the teeth was fixed in .06 , then it should work fine.

I agree on the armor though, but theres no way to equip and unequip armor on war animals outside of the Arena.

I dunno, I genned my current site in .08, but those combat reports don't show my dogs doing any significant damage. Usually just bruises. The kobold daggers on the other hand, are chopping my doggies' legs off!

Theres kind of a combat bug right now where if theres alot of dogs (or anything else), the forgotten beast or demon or whatever will get stuck in a cycle of repeatedly breaking holds and not actually attacking.

I don't see how this is a bug. If they are being attacked by a massive flurry of attacks they're too overwhelmed to be able to attack back. All they can do is defend.

What is the weakest imaginable war animal with a hold attack, then?

Can we swarm the dragon with fluffy wamblers?

Sadly, fluffy wamblers are vermin, and as such can't be trained for war. A pity, really.

Armoured war elephants are the stuff of nightmares.
No. Those guys trample you to death.

But imagine armoured war dogs! Forever, endlessly chewing on you! And they're unkillable!

actually, my war dogs get the job done and do it right

if i have issues with certain aanimals, lets say the cave swallow that bit my farmers hean clean off, i send in my two animal trainers, and they WILL kill it  with the ~60 war dogs between two dwarfs

There's was no problem that you could'nt solve by throwing war dogs at it .  Now you need sufficient velocity

I made skunks, as it turns they are able to knock-out anything in large groups. I tested extensively: garments can't be pierced with teeth, the nude however, can be slaughtered.

Try to train something like:
War deer
War unicorns
War trolls.
Anything that has a gore ability can pierce, I think.

Actually, it would be pretty awesome to be able to armor your War animals like the civilizations of old.

Could you imagine what armored War-Giant-Eagles would be like?. They're already nasty to take down.

They'd also fall out of the skies due to exhaustion, if ever they make it off the ground at all :P

I think that would only be a problem if one gave them heavy armor, but that would still be funny as hell.

Urist Mcdummy: I equipped the War-Eagles with Bronze armor as ordered sir!

Urist Mcnotsostupid: I said LEATHER ARMOR stupid!

Urist Mcdummy: Oh, well, I got booze, I'm happy.

And then the dwarves invented dwarven missiles to rain down upon their goblin foes.

But seriously, considering that Giant Eagles can easily tear the heads off of their victims, I don't think a bit of light armor would throw them that badly.

Well...bodies in DF seem to be bade of either gelatine or concrete, so I wouldn't rate the idea based on "number of heads ripped off". Still, armoured animals...nah. Most of the time, animals just sit around doing jack at all. I find it hard to believe they'd wear armour all the time. Dwarves might do so, but an Elephant or cat constantly in armour? Don't think so.

Misplaced McRealism; out.
