Sakuya.  Reading the linked article gives me the impression that the planet's intelligence is concentrated in a single lifeform.  THAT CAN BE KILLED.

I say it tongue in cheek, sort of. So many ideas end in tropes though, you're sort of stuck between embracing them and trying to be different. Writing while "trying to be different" isn't the way I've ever gotten motivated.
