Shards are ridiculously awesome (they can be won from Top 50 or PvP if the other deck uses them, and you get one for five dollars of donation.). 5 healing/turn for Gratitude (green), +20 max health for Divinity (blue), free creature ability for Readiness (yellow). They need to be upped to use, but they are great in any deck.

You can change element.

You can change your element, but the deck you start with is based on the element you chose so it might be a few games before you get enough cards to really use another element. Although, does your element just give you one quantum of that element each turn? Or is it more than that?

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

That's the idea.

There are also "mark" cards that act like pillars, but are untargetable. You can only get them from winning tournaments though.

Yeah. Your mark is untargetable and gives you one quantum of your element each turn. There's also an auto-mulligan in case you don't have cards without cost.

Speaking of which how do you target monsters and pillars?

Certain cards have certain targets. If I play Earthquake, then a red crosshair will appear over all enemy pillars that aren't protected. If I play Fire Bolt, a red crosshair will appear over non-immortal, non-burrowed creatures, as well as the opponent health (***NOTE: MAKE SURE YOUR OPPONENT DOESN'T REFLECT STUFF WITH HIS/HER SHIELD WHEN TARGETING DIRECTLY***)

I deleted my account. I didn't get very far and i want to get a feel for the flavor of the other elements. I'm not sure i like entropy so far.

I usually do a gravity/death.
Otyugh eats something, adding to my bone wall and adding skeletons based on how many boneyards I have.
Most I ever got was 4 out of 5 in deck.
I've not played in forever though.
I should probably do that.

Oty Vulture was win until I came across Scaredgirl's mostly-unupped rainbow, her get-rich-quick guide, and her unupped pillarless fastdraw rainbow. And then I grind AI3 with 6 Shrieker, 6 Graboid, 18 Stone Pillars, Mark of Time. Fast, but boring. Right now, I'm using a duo Aether-Gravity with Animate Weapon and flying Titans.  :D

Basically it says:
1. Get rid of off-element cards
2. take out defensive cards
3. Fill your deck with mainly pillars and hard-hitters (with fire, immolate and fire eater make quick quanta)
4. Grind AI3 till you have a good chunk of cash, 3-6k
5. Build a decent FG killer. Recommendations: SG's almost-unupped FG rainbow and The Essential Newbie FG Killer. The former has 7 upgrades(Fallen Elf, Otyugh, Golden Hourglass) and the latter has 2(Flying Weapons), but two rares(Titans) instead of 1(Eternity).

Elements is great, but it doesn't last. The card variety is so small that in the endgame, all amazingly good decks look the same and use the same strategies. Its like MTG with half the fun and 2% of the cards.

True, but it new cards should be coming out every month. Plus, there's a few well-done deck concepts, such as several rainbows, RoL-Fractal-Hope, and Firestall. However, there are some interesting community events organized over at the forums there, such as the War and the being-developed World of Elements which may make players consider their decks more carefully. Also, that stall deck I posted earlier is great for dealing with an unprepared opponent.

Yea, I'm not sure of what the developers were doing in a long time. I haven't touched elements in what, almost 5 months, and then I come back and they just added a thing here, another feature there...

I recon that balancing card games isn't easy, but its development seems to be going at a veeeeeeery slow pace.
