Yeah some of the events do not have sounds yet as the official sound pack is incomplete.

I have discovered: java.awt.Robot.createScreenCapture()

I am now pondering about possibilities...

(Btw, I made quick-fort like utility with help of might awt.Robot: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=64723.msg1771521#msg1771521 )

That is basically it. Now, I suppose I could make those messages less scarry thou ...

good for any epic scene - prepare earbleach

Also good choice with village of dorfs for worldgen. Another cool one is Ardent awaited land.

Could we ask for some more songs? Maybe more from http://incompetech.com/ ?

If you can get somebody to do "A mirgrant has entered your fortress" in the voice from Dungeon Keeper 2, I will have your babys.

You could, but I would like to keep soundpack download around 100mb (it is pain to upload larger files on my connection and it is not small download for others too).

From the official page, it looks like the last version was over 8 months ago... Or am I missing something?
Quote
SoundSense
9.23 MB, 4.12.2010
Soundpack
121.10 MB, 03.12.2010

EDIT: Ah, I see there's more recent stuff:
Release 22: http://df.zweistein.cz/soundsense/soundSense_22_101.zip

Added stop loop button to channel list, cheers!
Also, updated soundpack: http://df.zweistein.cz/soundsense/soundpack.zip

It looks like the main download links are current. But since those dates on the website hadn't been updated, it confused me.

BTW:
Manually playing sounds would be useful as well because it would let the user start up any loops that had been playing when Dwarf Fortress was closed if they wanted to.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I can see how it might be neat to be able to initialize a sound when recording a video to upload to YouTube. But then, there's so many sounds to choose from. Would it work to have a pull down menu to select a sound?

Finally:
Quote
¤toikkus.zip¤ (1.3 MB, last update 9.7.2010), Pack of announcements voiced by Toikkus from forums
sphr's battle sounds
Zurack's adventurer mode sounds

Can I assume that these separate downloads are unique? Do all three contain content that the official Soundpack does not?

The website is using DD:MM format rather than MM:DD. It's December 4, either way. ;)

And mentioned, I used civilized dd-mm-yyyy format :). Damn europeans, eh...

For selecting sounds, there is seccond tab in control window which containts all sounds as they were loaded ... For editing youtube videos, I would strongly suggest using some decent video editor that will allow your to place sound preciselly on timeline and suck neat stuff...

Other packs are independed on official soundpack, they do contain different sounds iirc.

I have discovered this quite nice source of free music: http://www.musopen.org/info.php?class=performer&id=83

I'd say there is spot for exactly one acapella chorus in ss, question is: which one?

This certainly is nifty, i like how it adds more music.

As far as customization goes, this is the music i'm currently using for Worldgen.

New release, 23:

http://df.zweistein.cz/soundsense/soundSense_23_105.zip

 - it is now much less panicky when dealing with incomplete packs (you can set loging level to "fine" to see those messages again)
 - you can now play sounds manually from Sounds Configuration tab.

And updated soundspack:

http://df.zweistein.cz/soundsense/soundpack.zip

 - ghost cue sounds
 - dwarf reaching adulthood cue sounds
 - tantrum start cue
 - new music track, new rain track
 - small combat improvements.

Heh, when I read about Soundsense for the first time several months ago, I was thinking "oh well, it'll probably take a long time for this to develop into anything decent". I didn't expect to have something this impressive by now (the deaths of many great mod ideas for games have made me pessimistic)! Ever since finding DF I've been waiting for the features Soundsense offers, and I'm like the new level of ambience it gives DF. The soundpack has nice variety, keep up the good work!
