I hate fathers day.

And yet again this was a shit day. Does anyone else share my feelings.

I find it funny.  Most of the fathers I talked to at work ended up doing things for their wife or kids this weekend.  So much for "Father's Day."

My father and I see each other every couple weekends anyway, so we were both fine with not doing anything today.  Besides, he and his sister are going to see their father, who they only bother meeting about three times a year.  So, whatever.

I gave my dad a call this morning, chatted for maybe half an hour. Hadn't talked to him in a few weeks, hadn't seen him in a few months. What's the big deal?

Its not that I dont get along with my parents, its just that I think its making people think being a father is something to be celebrated, like some massive achievment. It is one, but I think being a father is a necessity.

I have weird views I know.

... I don't think it's a necessity, or an achievement. In fact, I dont think the day celebrates fatherhood in itself, as much as it provides a excuse to show appretiation to your father...

Speaking of which, is there more than one father day? Because I'd swear that I had already congratulated my father this year.

Fixed that for you. I absolutely detest cards be they christmas, birthday, fathers day, etc. Days like Fathers/Mothers day are such a con to get you to buy them.

Just... if you're gonna hate something... why not hate poverty or something? Father's Day is a holiday about celebrating fatherhood. 'dun get this thread at all, man.

My wife served me pancakes in bed, let me sleep in until noon, and after a few hours alone in the house playing Company of Heroes I got to "celebrate how you became a father". Afterwards I don't even have to make the bed or a second pot of coffee.

I love this holiday.

Hating fathers day and hating poverty aren't mutally exclusive. Theres more than enough hate to go around.
