It's a meme derived from poor grammar in a translation. I wasn't actually aware of the particular source, but that's never actually been particularly relevant to memes.

Nah it isn't derived from bad grammar, it's derived from the chins boards that count posts and separates them by numbers. Bay12 threads also count replies by numbers, and the raeg thread is nearing the 50k mark. Certain numbers are valued for being intrinsically interesting numbers and for being milestones, such as 50,000 100,000 111,111 123,456 e.t.c.
Also related is the youtube thing where first comment get is a matter of reflexes as a gorrillion posts are made per second and you have to F5 to infinity to get first post on a video that has been posted 3 seconds ago.

It's not actually the translation; that screenshot is directly from the Japanese version. The American translation removed the "Get!" so it just says "Shine!", specifically because it was an odd translation.
