Well, that's depressing.

Ugh. I updated my computer to Windows 8.1 because it was hassling me to, and what do I find? That no useful changes were made. Also, it somehow breaks Minecraft's VBO mode, so now I have to use low graphical settings again.

M'with ... S'like
Apostrophes. On the wrong side of letters.
Mild disgruntlement has surfaced due to this.

Hmm...? No, they're on the right side of the letters. It's just a mildly convoluted sort of contraction. M'with is short for "I am with"and S'like is short for "It is like". Kinda' like o'clock, just... different. And at least partially invented, but hey, language.

Basically one-upping the normal stuff. Instead of folding up one word into a letter, I fold up two! Progress.

E: Or slurred pronunciation. Whatev'.

No because o'clock is cutting out the 'f' (I think? There's a letter missing anyway).
With 'mwith you're missing out the 'I a', which is before the 'M'. Likewise, with 'Slike you're missing out the 'It i', which is before the 'S'.

"Like, just different." S'honestly more of a phonetic shortening but eh.

Also two apostrophes in a word, especially surrounding the same letter, just looks kinda' terrible in english. M'with is much more aesthetically pleasing, as well as closer in appearence to the phonetic pronunciation, than 'mwith.

I was using the apostrophes as not-quotation marks. I don't know if there's a word for that. But yeah.

M'with is much more aesthetically pleasing, as well as closer in appearence to the phonetic pronunciation, than 'mwith.
Maybe to you, but definitely not to me. It starts with a guttural sound and then "mwith" is like kind of a syllable and a half, the first being a seamless continuation of the guttural sound at the start.

I made a joke about my shirt's colors not completely aligning with my school's to my dad, who then proceeded to blow up because I was being snarky with him. When I mentioned that I do it with my friends, he retorted by saying that he was not my friend and that I shouldn't do it with my friends either because it's disrespectful. He then continued by saying that he'd punch me in the jaw if I ever said something snarky to him or my friends again and keep doing it whenever I did until I got the point. I can understand not liking it when I do it to him, and I can kind of understand him saying that he's not my friend. But saying to not do it with my friends or he'll punch me is about where I draw the line of being understanding. I wanted to threaten him right back, but that wouldn't end well. And so here I am.

I'm going to try to ignore this before I say/do something that I'll regret.
Never had it that bad, but let me tell you, I had to make myself cry when my stepdad died - not too upset he was gone, just didn't want to upset anybody who actually cared. That kind of shit from somebody who's supposed to be supporting you in some capacity is not okay.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Anyway, actual rage. The code I wrote for midpoint displacement doesn't work and I don't know why. Grrr.

Fun fact: Put enough apostrophes in anything and it looks like a prayer to some elder god.

Mercilessly abused in SS13, where cultists, when they use their spells, say things like "AD'MN'S 'BU'S'N SH'T"
I wonder if there is a TS script that turns all message into cultist speak.

$message = replace($message, "a", "'")
