Oh dammit Microsoft! What have you done to zoo tycoon!?
What's wrong?
Looks like they took every single possibility of Fun out of the game. You can't trap people inside the zoo. You can't let lions loose on visitors. You can't put predators and their prey in the same habitat. Hell, you can't even design your own habitats, there are only like 3 possible habitats for each habitat type. You can't plant your own trees, you can only choose from one of four vegetation presets. Every zoo looks exactly like every other zoo. The architectural freedom is reduced to zero. This isn't Zoo Tycoon, this is Predesigned Zoo Assembly Kit And Playing With Animals.

Why gaem. Why u do this 2 us.

I'll be honest here. I used to be on a 'gameplay beats graphics everytime' high - horse. Then I got off the high horse. But even if I favoured graphics over gameplay everytime, this is a travesty. An abomination against what it is to enjoy something non - cookie - cutter. Let me think, actually. What games have progressed in gameplay in recent (let's say 10?) years?

Civ (although some people still like the old ones. Particularly the transition from 4 to 5 wasn't that well received)
The Total War Series, although this has been rather gradual throughout the games.
Farcry. Maybe?
Gears of War Judgement. Super maybe with the arcadey thing!?
Uhhh  ???

EDIT : I know there's more, so help me out if you want. I'm not counting stuff like Deus Ex / Quake 4 because the older games had far more severe technical limitations on them.

Civ is very arguable on whether 5 was that good of a progression, or just someone wanting to build a wargame instead. The combat, its better at. The AI on Noble, no. The moddability, certainly no, the most unique you get there is a rewrite of a Venice-style civ as an MGS one. Maybe the hexes are good, maybe not. You couldn't trade route at all unless it was from you to your capital until BNW.

What box? I just bought the Windows 8 with student discount :/
This is why you read carefully the description.

Why did you bother with Win8 unless you have a touchscreen monitor, anyway?
My not reading carefully turned out to be the best thing to do: you can use Upgrade just fine for a clean install xD.

And why I chose Windows 8? Student discount mostly. But also because I mainly use my pc for gaming and browsing, which is something 8 is not in any way worse at than 7 as far as I could determine. Supposedly better and prolonged support and generally being less heavy for a pc also played a factor.

Honestly is there anything really bad about Windows 8 other than it's botched op Start stuff?

Win7 is easier to confirm your stuff will in fact play well, because its been out longer and theres been more time to test things on it, and so forth. Theres a good fraction of posts I've seen for assorted games that start with either 'Does this work on Windows 8' or 'I can't get this to work (turns out to be a windows 8 pc)', and MS hasn't made any particularly impressive updates to DX11 lately to be worth it on its own afaik.

Also, Win7 isn't confused on what it is: you get a desktop/laptop interface for your desktop and/or laptop. No tablet nonsense cluttering your hard drive, and monitor, and other components.
