The spring on the A key of my keyboard seems to have given up on life and now the key sits lower than all the other ones and takes like, no pressure to type the letter at all.
This is an annoyance of a whole new magnitude.

See if your high school/university/nearby highschool or university has surplus. Either one is likely to have mountains of old tech that they can't or are waiting to get rid of. Might be cheap, unremarkable stuff, but they're built to last pretty well, surprisingly.

Otherwise, try to stay away from Logitech peripherals. When it's good, it's good, but most of the time something breaks within three months of getting it. Exception to the rule here is, again, the cheap unremarkable mouse I got from campus that has absolutely no labeling on the top and only signifies as Logitech as etched right near the laser reader.

This is so nice. A couple years ago, I was in the computers section of my school, I think in a class or just out of it, and the tech people were like, "hey, want some free computer stuff we're getting rid of?" And I was like, "Sure, that sounds cool." So I got myself a free keyboard and optical mouse, which replaced the old Logitech ones I'd been using, and the mouse I still use since I upgraded to my laptop.
